About

G'day, I'm

A Vietnamese-Australian computational biologist based in Melbourne. I'm a research scientist at Agriculture Victoria, where I use data science to help the Australian dairy industry, and, in my telling, to help our dairy cows live their best lives.

What I do

Decoding DNA

THE FOUR-LETTER ALPHABET I READ

I'm a digital detective in the world of animal genetics, decoding DNA mysteries with cutting-edge technology. Think of me as someone who reads the story of life written in A, T, G and C.

At Agriculture Victoria, I work on dairy cattle genetics using everything from SNP arrays to the latest long-read sequencing, hunting for important genetic variants and mapping complex traits. Before that, I explored aquaculture genomics during a PhD that took me across Australia and Vietnam: lobsters on the Sunshine Coast, molecular genetics in Queensland, and catfish and biotechnology back home in Ho Chi Minh City.

My interests run from ultra-long reads and single-cell transcriptomics to mining big genomic datasets and building the pipelines that make all of it reproducible.

Beyond the lab

When I'm not decoding genomes, you'll find me gaming, geeking out over tech, or capturing moments through my camera lens. Nerd, gamer, techie, photographer. Always up for a chat about science, tech, or anything in between.
